You are invited to an exhibition devoted to Józef Piłsudski, the Commander of Polish Legions, vanquisher of Bolsheviks, Chief of State, and the first Marshal of Poland. The exhibition will be presented from 13 June to 3 July 2017 in the Open-Air Gallery by Aleje Ujazdowskie in Warsaw.

The works on display will feature the figure of Józef Piłsudski and his accomplishments as a person whose goal was for Poland to regain its independence and who strove to fulfil this goal throughout his life.

The Marshal is shown on battlegrounds, among soldiers and family, and during his free time, e.g. on vacation. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the most important periods in his biography – the exile in Siberia, the printing press activity leading to his imprisonment in the Warsaw Citadel, formation of the Riflemen’s Association and the First Cadre Company, the combat of the Legions and the war against the Bolshevik Russia.

The actions of "Ziuk" – as Piłsudski was called by his closest acquaintances – are depicted with the use of the Central Military Library collections – handwritten documents, photographs, leaflets, posters as well as excerpts from book and press publications from the era.

The exhibition "Józef Piłsudski. On the 150th Birth Anniversary" has been organised in connection with 2017 having been declared by the Senate as the year of Piłsudski, and the celebration of the Day of the Central Military Library, named in honour of the Marshal of Poland.

Partners of the exhibition: Royal Łazienki Museum and TVP Historia. Media sponsors: TVP 3 Warszawa, TVP Polonia, Polska Live Radio, Mówią Wieki history magazine, Do Rzeczy. Historia monthly magazine and Tydzień Polski (London).
