The display of the painting "Ariadne Abandoned by Theseus", by Angelica Kauffmann, initiated the German Season in the Royal Łazienki. A preview of the Exhibition of One Painting took place on 1 May 2017 in the Palace on the Isle.

"Ariadne Abandoned by Theseus" came to Łazienki for the Exhibition of One Painting as a result of cooperation of the Royal Łazienki Museum, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Dresden State Art Collections (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden). During the preview Professor Zbigniew Wawer, Director of the Royal Łazienki Museum, and Professor Marion Ackermann, Director of the Dresden State Art Collections, presented the masterpiece together with Rolf Nikel, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The painting belonging to the Dresden State Art Collections, on permanent exhibition in the Old Masters Picture Gallery (Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister), will be shown in the Palace on the Isle until 30 July 2017. Then, it will be replaced by the "Portrait of a Patrician Family", a work by Abraham van den Tempel, to be loaned from the Hamburger Kunsthalle until 30 November 2017.

Both exhibitions are part of the German Season in the Royal Łazienki, which was officially opened on 1 May, at the European Picnic – this year taking place under the honorary patronage of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

In addition to an extensive education program, which will accompany both exhibitions, the Museum has prepared various events on the occasion of the German Season, including screenings of German films in the summer cinema in the Amphitheatre.
