Red oak
Quercus rubra
The red oak originating from North America is considered as an invasive species in our country. Its leaves, with 3-5 pairs of blades with bony-like thorns, when dropping form a thick carpet under the tree preventing the growth of other plants. However, since in the autumn it takes a beautiful red colour, it is often planted in parks. The red oak leaf is reproduced on Polish grosz coins.
