French song in modern interpretations will reign during the upcoming weekend 16-17th July - at a  halfway point of the Sphere of Silence Festival held in the Royal Łazienki Museum. Interpenetration of musical traditions and genres will be demonstrated by a star of the Saturday's evening: Avenue jazz quintet. A special attraction of the French weekend will be a summary of the outdoor painting workshop that has been open in the Royal Gardens throughout the last week.

Collaboration between the Polish and French members of Avenue band is the best proof of very close musical relations between our countries. The group, which begun its career in 2013 as a duet, currently consists of five gifted artists: Catherine Priwieziencew (vocal), Damian Pietrasik (piano), Kacper Zasada (double bass), Amadeusz Krebs (percussion) and Łukasz Korybalski (trumpet). Wonderful tradition of the French song constitutes a source of inspiration for the musicians from Avenue, yet it does not limit their artistic explorations, which are directed at jazz and improvised music. The band has already achieved substantial successes: in 2014 it won Grand Prix of the International Festival of French Song in Cracow, and a year later it released its first album "Musique". During the Sphere of Silence Festival Avenue quintet will perform at 7:00 p.m. on the Purple Scene by the Temple of Sybil.

French music is the leitmotif of all festival events at the upcoming weekend. Within the framework of Melomaluszki concerts for music-loving children on Saturday and Sunday (at 10:00, 11:00 12:00 a.m., 3:00, 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.) Malina Sarnowska and excellent instrumentalists - Agnieszka Karwowska (flute), Zuzanna Elster (harp) and Leszek Wachnik (bassoon) - will take the youngest music lovers for a wonderful musical journey to France. Adults are invited for a meeting with French music by: clarinet quartet Poco Leggero, Bydgostia Accordion Trio, Duo Escarmouche (saxophone and cello) and Piotr Bakal -author, composer and performer of poetic songs. Concerts on all five outdoor scenes will be performed all week round.

The atmosphere of Paris, the city of artists, will be evoked by an unusual happening - outdoor painting workshop "En Plain Air" held in the Royal Gardens. It will be open from this Monday and concluded on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. with an exhibition of works (registration: biuro@muzykajest.pl and on tel. 605 225 849). Like during every weekend of July those who love to perform will have a chance to do so on the Open Scene everyone who wishes to present his or her vocal skills or proficiency in playing on a favourite musical instrument is invited (registration: koncert@muzykajest.pl). The French weekend will also include Sunday's Chopin Concerts featuring: Paweł Wakarecy and Monika Quinn.

The Embassy of France is a partner of the French weekend.

The Sphere of Silence Festival is organized in the Royal Łazienki Museum for the fourth time. Each weekend is devoted to the music of a different country.  In the second half of July we will have an opportunity to experience a meeting with Spanish music (23-24th July) and listen to concerts of the international weekend (30-31st July).
