The 2nd edition of the international interdisciplinary academic conference "Echoes of Antiquity" will take place in June. Professionals and young researchers from various fields are invited to attend the event.

The objective of the "Echoes of Antiquity" academic conference is to promote integration of the community of researchers concerned with ancient traditions in the art and culture of later periods. Among the topics are the history of plaster cast collecting and manufacturing, the reception of antiquity in architecture and crafts, and ancient traditions in literature and contemporary culture.

The sessions will take place on 15 and 16 June 2023 at the Tyszkiewicz-Potocki Palace (University of Warsaw) and the Palace on the Isle (Royal Łazienki Museum).

The opening lectures of each panel discussion will be given by renowned researchers from foreign academic centres: professor Gabriella Cianciolo Cosentino (University of Cologne), professor Maria Fabricius Hansen (University of Copenhagen), Dr Juliette Harrisson (Newman University) and Astrid Nielsen (Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden).

The conference will also feature presentations of the latest research findings. Anyone interested is welcome to submit their presentations. Proposals of up to 300 words should be written in English and sent to echoes@uw.edu.pl by 16 April 2023 at the latest. The list of accepted presentations will be announced by the end of April.

The conference will also include art workshops and a tour of the preserved basement of the Saxon Palace, uncovered during last year’s work.
