The surroundings of the Monument to Fryderyk Chopin at the Royal Łazienki Museum, the world’s most famous Polish monument, will be revitalised. The work will include the renovation of the basin, the conservation of the plinth and the enhancement of selected items of greenery.

The historic part of the Royal Łazienki Gardens, located in the surroundings of the Fryderyk Chopin Monument, is an extremely important area of Museum. The monument to the eminent Polish composer is an internationally recognised symbol of Polish culture, and the area around it has for decades been the site of summer Chopin Concerts, attended in large numbers by Varsovians and tourists.

In the post-war period, the monument and its surroundings were renovated several times. Nowadays, due to the passage of time and intensive use by visitors, the site is in need of comprehensive renovation and conservation measures.

The planned work will include renovation of the basin and conservation of the stone elements. The pool is an important part of the composition, and – according to the designer’s vision – its water surface is to reflect the sky, the greenery and the monument itself. The pedestal of the monument together with the stairs, made of the same stone as the basin’s frame, namely the Wąchock red sandstone, will also undergo conservation.

In addition, measures aimed at revitalising and replenishing the greenery in the vicinity of the pool, including the replacement of the lawn, are also planned. The work, which began in mid-September 2025, will be carried out under expert supervision and will be completed in 2026. The cost of the project, amounting to PLN 3 million, is financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, from state budget funds.
