Admission Free November 2018 in the Royal Łazienki

We invite visitors to take part in the "Admission Free November" event, during which they will have the opportunity to take tours of the Royal Łazienki without paying entry fees. Many attractions await our guests, including the new temporary exhibition devoted to Polish orders and decorations, as well as strolls, workshops, lectures and museum lessons. Admission to all events is free.

This will be the seventh time that Royal residencies: the Royal Łazienki Museum, the Museum of the Royal Castle in Warsaw, the Wawel Royal Castle and the Museum of King Jan III Palace At Wilanów – invite guests to the Admission Free November. This year’s event will take place under the slogan "Recovered Heritage on the 100th Anniversary of Independence" – in the Royal Łazienki, on 17 and 18 November 2018, visitors will be welcome to participate in events devoted to the recovered works from museum collections.

What to Visit? When, and How?

At the Royal Łazienki, from 3 to 30 November 2018, you may want to enjoy free visits of the Palace on the Isle with the Royal Picture Gallery (Tue-Sun, from 10:00 to 18:00), the Old Orangery with the Royal Theatre and the Royal Sculpture Gallery (Tue-Sun, from 10:00 to 16:00), and the Museum of Hunting and Equitation (Tue-Sun, from 10:00 to 16:00), where – in addition to permanent exhibitions such as: Polish Hunting Room from the 19th-20th Century, forest animals, birds and exotic trophies – visitors will have a chance to see the exhibition "Był taki szpital. Dzieje Szpitala Ujazdowskiego w latach 1918-1945" (There Was a Hospital. History of the Ujazdowski Hospital in the Period from 1918 to 1945).

The free entry tickets are available in the respective buildings and in the Museum’s ticket offices. The tickets come with an additional 20% discount at the café "Niepodległa. Miejsce spotkań" (entrance near Al. Ujazdowskie, near the Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw). 

Exhibition of Polish Orders and Decorations

The main event of the "Admission Free November" in the Royal Łazienki will be the temporary exhibition "The Splendour of Orders on the 100th Anniversary of Regaining Independence", devoted to the history of Polish orders and decorations, open from 9 November 2018 between 10:00 and 18:00 in the Palace on the Isle, in the Myślewicki Palace, and in the Officer Cadets School. The exhibition has been organized with the cooperation of various prestigious museums from Poland and abroad. The most precious exhibits – diamond and ruby uniform of the Order of the White Eagle – have been leased from Staatliche Kunstsammlungen in Dresden. In addition, visitors are invited to see: The Order of the White Eagle of Józef Wybicki, author of "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" (Polish National Anthem), from the Museum of the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw; cross of the Virtuti Militari Order with number "1" inscribed, which was awarded to the city of Lviv by Marshal Józef Piłsudski and has been leased from the National Museum in Wrocław; as well as orders of Marshal Ferdynand Foch from the Army Museum in Paris, and the Order of the White Eagle of Pope John Paul II from the collections of the Centre of Documentation and Research of the Pontificate of John Paul II in Rome. In total, the exhibition includes a thousand exhibits: orders and decorations, uniforms, documents, photographs and films, as well as portraits of eminent Poles who were decorated for their service to the Homeland.

Guided tours of the exhibition will take place on Saturdays – on 10, 17 and 24 November at 11:00, with the meeting point in front of the Palace on the Isle.

Weekend with Recovered Works of Art

On 17 and 18 November 2018 at 13:00 and 15:00, departure from the Palace on the Isle
Tours of the Royal Łazienki following the trail of recovered works of art. Tours guided by museum curators. Participants of the event will visit the Palace on the Isle, where they will see the "Washerwoman" by Gabriel Metsu, a Rococo card playing table by King Stanisław August, an applique (candlestick) with medusa’s head, as well as a bust of Diana by Jean-Antoine Houdon. Attendees will find out how these works of art returned to the Łazienki collections.
