  • Princess Takamado paying a visit to the Royal Łazienki

    Her Imperial Highness Princess Hisako Takamado, who came to Poland for the second time, was visiting the Royal Łazienki. She contemplated the monument of Fryderyk Chopin together with the Modernist Garden, the Old Orangery, the Palace on the Isle, and the Myślewicki Palace.

  • Debate on EU in the Royal Theatre. "Europe must wake up"

    - My goal was to make a film that would get through to people and stun them. Europe must wake up and such a signal must come from the society - Annalisa Piras, the producer of the "The Great European Disaster Movie" said. The Polish premiere of the documentary as well as the accompanying debate on the future of EU took place in the Royal Theatre in the Old Orangery as part of the “European Wednesdays" organised by the Royal Łazienki and Professor Bronisław Geremek Foundation Centre.

  • The Dutch Garden is being created in the Royal Łazienki

    Hundreds of tulips, narcissus, daffodils, then roses, hydrangeas and perennial plants will bloom in spring in the Orangery Garden of the Royal Łazienki. The plants will form the so-called Dutch Garden which has been designed by Dutchman Niek Roozen. - We want to enrich the surroundings of the Old Orangery by adding flowers, perennial plants and shrubs. We believe that, in spring, this place will reveal all its beauty which will last until late autumn - Barbara Werner, Chief Gardener in the Royal Łazienki, says.

  • New splendour of the Myślewicki Palace - from 7 October

    The results of  a few months’ work by specialists, who made it possible to uncover historical polychromes, can be admired in the Myślewicki Palace already from 7 October. - Following the conservation work the Palace gained new splendour to reflect its 18th century character - said Piotr Zambrzycki, Chief Conservator of Royal Łazienki.

  • Handel resounded in Łazienki. The 1st Festival of Baroque Operas ended

    Brilliant baroque operas, including "Agrippina" and "Orlando" were presented to the guests of the 1st Festival of Baroque Operas "Dramma per Musica", which took place in the Royal Theatre in the Royal Łazienki until 20 September. There were also atmospheric concerts and recitals. Nearly 100 artists, including nearly 40 vocalists, performed for audiences of the Festival.

  • In the Palace on the Isle about Europe and its relations with Russia and Ukraine

    Political scientists, theoreticians and practitioners of international relations and specialists in Russia and Ukraine took part in a two-day conference "Europe-Russia-Ukraine" in the Royal Łazienki. The meeting, which can also be watched in the Virtual Museum, was organised by Professor Bronisław Geremek Foundation Centre.

  • Great refurbishment in Łazienki. The Palace on the Isle and its surroundings have gained beauty

    The interiors of the Palace on the Isle have been renovated to appear as they did when Stanisław August was looking at them, historic polychromes have been uncovered in the Myślewicki Palace, the alleys in the historic gardens have been modernised and the Museum’s website enhanced – all this work has been carried out in the Royal Łazienki over the last three years thanks to a project co-financed from EU funds.

    The Polish premiere of "Orlando", one of the best operas of George Frideric Handel, master of baroque music, will inaugurate the 1st Festival of Baroque Operas “Dramma per Musica”. Until 20 September, the audience will have the opportunity to attend operas and concerts featuring baroque music compositions in the Royal Theatre of the Old Orangery.

  • “Out of the Darkness” show by Leszek Mądzik, that is a play of lights and fleeting beauty of nature

    The play of lights and music, which revealed the fleeting beauty of the Royal Łazienki’s nature, could be watched on Saturday and on Sunday evening in front of the Palace of the Isle during “Out of the Darkness” jubilee shows. The production was set by Leszek Mądzik – a brilliant director and stage designer who, 45 years ago, founded the Fine Arts Stage at the Catholic University of Lublin.

  • Perception of the Royal Łazienki in a survey carried out by sociologists

    The modernization of the Museum buildings and conservation of monuments as well as the enhancement of the cultural offer are changes which appealed the most to visitors of the Royal Łazienki – these are the findings of a survey conducted by sociologists in July in connection with the Sphere of Silence Festival. Most respondents pointed out at relaxation and walking as the main reasons for a visit to Łazienki.

  • Festival of Light already opened – The Chinese Garden illuminated with colourful lanterns

    The Festival of Light in the Royal Łazienki already opened! Visitors are invited to Oriental Concerts, the performance of the Beijing Opera, the shows of the Chinese calligraphy and tea making ceremony and also romantic strolls among colourful lanterns in the Chinese Garden. The Festival will last until 30 August when the Stage on Water will host the “Out of The Darkness” shows produced by Leszek Mądzik.

  • Michał Batory about the new logo of the Royal Łazienki

    For me the Royal Łazienki are mainly a park, thus an organic whole – an eminent poster designer and graphic artist, Michał Batory, stated in his most recent interview for the “Duży Format” supplement to the “Gazeta Wyborcza” daily about the new logo of the Royal Łazienki. The work features a leaf turning into a crown – a leaf that was discovered and picked in Paris.

  • Royal Łazienki in 1938 in a colour film "Stroll around Warsaw"

    “Spacer po Warszawie” (Stroll around Warsaw) is the title of a film made in 1938 by Bogusław Magiera, in which the author showed the Royal Łazienki. Nature, flora and fauna of the former royal residence, architecture and visitors strolling in autumn time along the paths are the main topics of this short impressionistic work. Enjoy watching.

    By decision of the Minister of Culture, professor Małgorzata Omilanowska, the contract of Director Tadeusz Zielniewicz has been extended for another term as Director of the Royal Łazienki Museum. The Revitalisation Programme implemented in the Royal Łazienki since 2010 have enabled investments of over 130 million zlotys so far.

  • Preview of the Royal Sculpture Gallery in the Old Orangery

    The Royal Sculpture Gallery already opened! During the preview, the plaster casts of Ancient sculptures of Laokoon Group were contemplated by, among others, the President of the Republic of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski, and his Wife, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, professor Małgorzata Omilanowska as well as representatives of art, science and media. The official opening was accompanied by the “Pythian Oratorio” of the Gardzienice Theatre.

  • Grzyby - tajemniczy architekci z naszych ogrodów! Kiedy spacerujesz po Łazienkach Królewskich w grudniowe przedpołudnie, może Ci się wydawać, że świat przyrody zwalnia. Ale pod liśćmi i w korze drzew trwa prawdziwe życie - i to życie tworzą grzyby! W ramach programu towarzyszącego wystawie "Łazienki w zachwycie" zorganizowaliśmy w listopadzie spotkania BioBlitz, podczas których grupa pasjonatów pod okiem dr. Michała Gorczaka przez 6 godzin przemierzała ogrody w poszukiwaniu grzybów. Efekt? Podczas naszych badań znaleźliśmy 41 różnych rodzajów grzybów, z czego 37 udało się dokładnie rozpoznać i przyporządkować do gatunku. Najwięcej było saproksylobiontów - grzybów rozkładających martwe drewno. Wśród nich znalazły się zarówno twarde, wieloletnie huby, jak i jednoroczne, miękkie owocniki, a także uszak bzowy i żylak trzęsakowaty.
